Pinoy Pop idol groups gather for the 2022 PPOPCON Press Conference

The established and up-and-coming Pinoy Pop (P-pop) idol groups gathered for a hybrid press conference held at the Novotel Manila Araneta City on Wednesday, March 30, to give details for the first-ever Pinoy Pop Convention, branded as the 2022 PPOPCON, happening on April 9-10, 2022 at the New Frontier Theater and Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Present onsite in the venue are SB19, 4th Impact, ALAMAT, Press Hit Play, 1st.One, and VXON, with MNL48, BGYO, BINI, KAIA, PPOP Generation, DAYDREAM, R Rules, G22, Calista, and DIONE joining the event virtually, via Zoom.

With the rise of P-pop as a genre and emergence of Filipino idol groups amidst the ongoing pandemic, C13 of rookie boy group VXON acknowledged the efforts of their seniors for starting the P-pop wave.

“We thank our seniors for working hard to raise our flag by introducing P-pop to the international scene,” he said.

All 16 groups faced the media and answered their questions about their preparations for the event, their latest and upcoming releases, and their excitement for the return of live music entertainment.

Apart from the media conference, the 2022 PPOP CON kicked off with a series of live-ticket selling events, mall shows, artist activities, and Wish Bus performances that further ignited the excitement of the PPOP community. It is billed as the first and largest event that celebrates Pinoy Pop music, and is eyed to elevate the genre in the international music scene.
