SB19’s hit track ‘GENTO’ secures a spot on two Billboard charts, gaining viral popularity

With its immense popularity, SB19’s ‘GENTO’, used in over 600 thousand TikTok videos and still counting, made a remarkable entry on Billboard charts.

The song secured a spot on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales, making its debut and peaking at #8 for the week of June 3. This chart, compiled by US-based music and entertainment data provider Luminate, ranks the most downloaded songs based on sales data.

Following the release of their highly anticipated EP ‘PAGTATAG!’, SB19’s ‘GENTO’ managed to debut on the Philippines Songs chart at #17 for the week of June 17, making them the pioneering P-pop group to enter this chart.

Since then, the track has continued to climb, reaching its peak position at #11 on the same chart which is a local adaptation of Billboard’s Hits of the World collection, ranking the top 25 songs on a weekly basis in over 40 countries worldwide.

SB19 has a history of breaking Billboard records, and their recent achievements are no exception. In January of the previous year, their song ‘BAZINGA’ accomplished a remarkable feat by surpassing the K-pop supergroup BTS’ ‘Butter’ in terms of the number of weeks spent at #1 on the Hot Trending Songs Chart. ‘BAZINGA’ held the top position on the chart for an impressive 7 weeks.

Additionally, they have made significant breakthroughs as the first Filipino and Southeast Asian act to receive a nomination in the Top Social Artist category at the Billboard Music Awards and the first Southeast Asian act to enter the top 10 list of Billboard Social 50 weekly and year-end charts.

As the countdown begins, Ken, Justin, Josh, Pablo, and Stell from SB19 are gearing up for their second world tour, ‘PAGTATAG!’. It will commence with back-to-back shows at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on June 24 and 25.
